Safety wire twisting pliers make lockwiring fast, consistent and repeatable. Clamp the wire in the jaws, lock them shut, then draw the spiral shaft back - the tool spins itself and lays a clean, even twist. The result is the tight, uniform lockwire that aviation, motorsport and marine work demand, without the fatigue and inconsistency of twisting by hand.

Both sizes share the same hardened alloy steel construction, black oxide finish, serrated jaws and built-in side cutter. The difference is reach and leverage:

6″ (150 mm) - the everyday choice. Lighter in the hand and easier to work in confined bays, around brackets and between close-set fasteners.
9″ (230 mm) - more leverage and a longer pull, so each stroke lays more twist. Better suited to heavier gauge wire and longer runs where you want fewer strokes.

Plenty of workshops keep both on the bench: the 6″ for tight access, the 9″ for bulk work.

These are automatic-return twisters with a fixed twist direction - the standard, most economical pattern, and the one most workshops reach for.

How to Use

Thread the safety wire through the fastener and bring the two tails together.
Grip both tails in the jaws, as close to the fastener as you can.
Squeeze the handles tight, then push the perforated silver collar forward towards the handles. This locks the jaws shut so they cannot open, holding the wire securely while you twist.
Draw the spiral shaft back in one smooth stroke. The tool spins itself and lays an even twist along the wire.
Let the shaft return, then slide the silver collar back to unlock the jaws and release the wire.
Trim the twisted tail with the built-in side cutter and tuck the cut end safely out of the way.
