Ordering & payment
What payment methods do you accept?
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Afterpay.
Retail prices on our Australian site include GST. Trade account prices are shown ex GST, and GST is added at checkout.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Usually, yes, as long as it hasn't shipped. Contact us as soon as possible with your order number.
We'll do our best to change the delivery address or items, or cancel the order, before it's dispatched. Most orders ship the same business day, so the sooner you let us know the better. Once an order has shipped it can't be changed, but you may be able to return it under our 60-day returns policy. Change-of-mind returns must be unused and still sealed, you pay the return postage, and some items can't be returned.
Do I get a tax invoice?
Yes. We email you a tax invoice for your order, showing the GST.
If you need another copy, contact us with your order number.
Why do some items have a minimum order quantity?
Some hardware is only sold in a minimum quantity or in multiples, such as screws in lots of 100.
The product page shows the rule under the quantity box, for example "Minimum order: 30" or "Sold in multiples of 100". Orders need to meet it, and your cart will flag any item that doesn't. If you need fewer for a repair, contact us and we'll see what we can do.
How are wire and cable sold?
Most electrical wire is sold by the metre. If the price on the product page shows "/m", the quantity you choose is the number of metres.
Those pages also show the price per foot, and update the length and line total as you change the quantity. Some cable, such as coax, is priced per foot or per length instead. Check the product title and description before you order, or contact us if you're not sure. Safety wire is sold by weight, in 1 lb spools. Its product page shows the approximate length of each spool where the manufacturer publishes it.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes. Digital gift cards come in amounts from $10 to $1,000 and can be used on anything in our store.
Yes. Standard shipping is free on Australian orders of $199 or more.
Trade accounts get free standard shipping on orders of $1,000 or more, including GST. Express isn't included: if you choose Express at checkout, you pay the Express rate. Some discount codes can't be combined with free shipping; if you use a code, checkout shows whether shipping is charged before you pay. Below the threshold, shipping is calculated at checkout from the weight of your order and where it ships from, starting at $9.99. Free shipping doesn't apply to international orders. See all shipping rates.
When will my order be dispatched?
Most in-stock items ship the same business day if you order before the cut-off shown on the product page.
Our main warehouse's cut-off is 3pm AEST, Monday to Friday. Items from our other warehouses have their own cut-off or dispatch time, which depends on the product: see the product page for details.
Orders placed after the cut-off, on a weekend or on a public holiday ship the next business day. During a holiday closure, such as the Christmas break, some items take longer, and their product page shows the date they'll ship.
How long does delivery take in Australia?
Standard delivery usually takes 2 to 6 business days after dispatch to capital cities and major towns. Allow longer for regional and remote areas.
Standard (Australia Post): usually 2 to 6 business days to capital cities and major towns
Express (Australia Post): usually 1 to 3 business days to metro areas
Items marked "Dispatched within 1 business day" travel by TNT Road Express, tracked door to door
Most product pages have a delivery estimator that gives a date for your postcode, and so does our shipping page.
Why did my order arrive in more than one parcel?
We ship from more than one warehouse, so items from different warehouses are sent as separate parcels.
A large order may also be packed into several cartons in the same consignment, and larger orders may travel with TNT instead of Australia Post. You'll get tracking for each shipment. Cartons in the same consignment share one tracking number and can arrive separately. If you're missing an item and haven't received tracking for it, contact us with your order number.
How do I track my order?
Use the tracking link in your shipping confirmation email.
You don't need an account: guest orders get the same email. If your order ships from more than one warehouse, each shipment has its own tracking number. Can't find the email? Check your spam folder, then contact us with your order number.
My parcel is lost, or tracking says delivered but I haven't got it. What do I do?
Contact us with your order number. If your order is lost in transit, we'll replace it or refund you.
If tracking shows it as delivered, check around your property and with your neighbours and local post office first, as parcels are sometimes left in a safe place or carded for collection.
Why can't aerosols and some chemicals go by Express or overseas?
Aerosols and some chemicals are dangerous goods, so they can only travel by road within Australia.
Checkout offers road freight for these items instead of Express, and their shipping is calculated separately. They can't be sent overseas; if you're shopping from outside Australia, they show as "Sold out".
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, to most countries. Shipping is calculated at checkout.
We send international orders with Australia Post, and your local postal service delivers them. Choose your country and language at the top of the page to see prices in your currency. Import duties, taxes and customs fees are charged by your country when the parcel arrives and are paid by you. They aren't included in our prices or shipping.
The exception is the United States: US orders are delivered duty paid. Duties and taxes are already covered in your US prices, so there's nothing extra to pay on delivery.
Some items can only be sent within Australia, including dangerous goods such as aerosols and some chemicals, and items marked "Dispatched within 1 business day". If you're shopping from outside Australia, these items show as "Sold out" and can't be added to your cart. Heavy orders may also be too heavy to send overseas. If checkout doesn't offer a shipping option to your country, contact us.
Can I pick up my order?
Not at the moment. All orders are shipped.
Returns, refunds & warranty
What is your returns policy?
You can return an item within 60 days of receiving it.
For a change of mind, the item must be unused, sealed and in a condition we can resell, in its original packaging with all parts and paperwork, and you pay the return postage. If an item arrives faulty or damaged, or isn't what you ordered, we pay the return postage. Read the full returns policy.
What can't be returned?
We can't accept change-of-mind returns of:
Socks, helmets and gloves
Gift cards
Anything that has been unsealed
This doesn't affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law if an item is faulty.
How do I start a return or exchange?
Fill in our returns form with your order number, or sign in to your account and choose Request return on the order.
If your return is approved, we email you the return instructions. For an exchange, choose Exchange as the return type on the form and tell us what you'd like instead.
How long does a refund take?
Once your return reaches us and is approved, we refund it within 10 business days.
The refund goes to your original payment method, and your bank may take a few more days to show it. Original shipping charges aren't refunded unless we've agreed otherwise.
My item arrived damaged, faulty or wrong. What do I do?
Contact us straight away with your order number and a description of the problem, and we'll put it right.
Please check your order when it arrives and let us know within 7 days of delivery, with photos of the item and packaging, so we can claim from the carrier. Depending on the problem we'll replace, repair or refund the item, and we pay the return postage.
Do your products come with a warranty?
Yes. We cover products for 12 months from purchase against defects in materials and workmanship.
Some products also come with a longer warranty from the manufacturer, which is usually noted on the product page. Our warranty doesn't cover normal wear and tear, misuse or accidents, or consumables such as batteries and bulbs. To make a claim, contact us with your order number, a description of the fault and photos if you can. Read the warranty information.
Products & parts
What does Pilot Gear sell?
Aviation parts, tools and pilot supplies: aircraft hardware and fasteners, avionics and electrical parts, tools and equipment, maintenance chemicals and consumables, and pilot supplies.
Brands include Cleco, David Clark, ASA, Jeppesen, Flight Outfitters, Design 4 Pilots, Novus, Icom and Malin. Our customers include pilots, aircraft owners and builders, LAMEs, maintenance organisations and flying schools. Browse all brands.
Are your parts new and genuine?
Yes. Everything we sell is new, and branded products are the manufacturer's genuine item.
Standard AN and MS hardware is identified by its specification part number, and some tools are sold under our own Pilot Gear name. Every product page shows the part number (SKU), which for most parts is the manufacturer's part number. If you need to know who made a particular part, ask us before you order.
Do parts come with a Certificate of Conformity?
Some do. If a part comes with a Certificate of Conformity or other release paperwork, its product page says so, either with a "Certs included" badge or in the product title or description.
If you can't see either and you need paperwork for a part, ask us before you order and we'll confirm what's available.
Where can I find a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) or product documents?
Where we have one, it's under Documents on the product page.
If you can't see the document you need, ask us before you order.
Can you tell me if a part is right for my aircraft?
No. We're a parts supplier, not a maintenance organisation, so we can't advise whether a part is suitable, approved or airworthy for your aircraft.
Please confirm the part number and its approval for your aircraft with your LAME, your maintenance organisation or the aircraft's maintenance documentation before you order or fit it.
Can I ask a question about a product before I buy?
Yes. Use Ask a question on the product page, or our contact form.
We can help with specifications, part numbers, dimensions, stock and paperwork. We can't advise whether a part is suitable for your aircraft.
What if an item is sold out?
Sold-out items show "Sold out" on the product page and can't be ordered online.
Contact us with the part number and quantity you need, and we'll let you know whether we can get it.
Which Cleco size do I need?
Choose the Cleco that matches the size of the hole: 3/32", 1/8", 5/32", 3/16" or 1/4". 1/8" is the most popular size.
The grip range is how thick a stack of material the Cleco can hold. Our Cleco Kit Builder helps you choose sizes and quantities for a project.
