商品情報

This drill stop fits 1/4" drill bits (0.250" / 6.35 mm), the drill for 1/4" clecos, AN4 bolt holes and 1/4" hardware. The copper spring matches the colour of our 1/4" C Series clecos. As with clecos, 1/4" and 1/8" share the copper code; the bores are so different there is no confusing the two. At about 60 mm long it wants a jobber length bit rather than a stubby.

A drill stop is a spring loaded depth stop that locks onto the shank of the bit with a hex socket set screw. Only the length of drill you leave exposed can enter the work, so the bit cannot go any deeper than you set it. As you reach depth, the rounded steel nose settles on the panel and the coil spring takes the lunge out of the breakthrough, instead of letting the chuck slam into the skin.

A 1/4" bit in a big drill breaks through hard, and the chuck arrives a moment later. The stop puts a hard limit on depth so the bit stops where you set it, and the spring absorbs the breakthrough so the chuck never touches the work. Handy on bolt holes through fittings where the far side is a fuel bay, a line or a finished surface.

使用方法

  1. Fit the stop: slide it onto the drill bit from the shank end, rounded nose towards the tip and set screw collar towards the chuck.
  2. Set the depth: hold the nose pushed back so the spring is fully compressed, then position the collar so the bit stands proud of the nose by the thickness of your stack plus a few millimetres for the drill point.
  3. Lock it: tighten the set screw with a small hex key (not included) and let the nose go.
  4. Drill as normal: when the nose touches the surface the spring starts to compress, and when it bottoms out the bit can go no deeper.
